Three friends exploring downtown Senoia with famous watertower in background

Senoia

Location, Location, Location. The first “settlement,” which was 2 miles south of modern-day Senoia (pronounced “seh-noy”) was called Location. Which if you were to ask us, and we’re assuming you are, never really moved past its location, since it no longer exists. Senoia, on the other hand, is living its best life.

Comprising mainly one historic district on the National Register of Historic Places, Senoia is a treasure trove of architectural pleasures.

Senoia on the Screen and Beyond

Officially incorporated in 1866, then chartered in 1905, the city is as real as it gets. Except sometimes, it plays a fictional community for the small and silver screens. Home to Riverwood Studios, Senoia and its historically charming downtown have served as the backdrop to a variety of movies and TV shows, including Fried Green Tomatoes, Driving Miss Daisy, the remake of Footloose and our favorite zombie fest, The Walking Dead.

Don’t worry, the show doesn’t stop in Senoia when the director calls cut. With a bustling Main Street, cute boutiques and ridiculously good eats, the city is the perfect setting for your next big break. Plus, with some big development plans in the making, there will be plenty of opportunities for a few takes at the action.

What Makes Senoia Special

Yes, it’s a sought-after movie locale and an exceptional place to call home, but there are lots of other reasons residents love this idyllic Southern town.

Main Street Thrills

Dozens of restaurants, boutiques, shops and sweet treats abound along the historic Main Street of downtown Senoia. Grab a perfectly poured pint at Maguire’s Irish Pub, discover work by local artists or pick up some homemade fudge.

Zombie Ground Zero

The Walking Dead was filmed almost exclusively in Coweta County and Senoia for the last 10 years.

Design Inspiration

For over 30 years, Southern Living has been creating signature custom homes that celebrate life in the South, each reflecting a unique take on the style, comfort and innovation of the times. Senoia was chosen as the host location for the 2010 Southern Living Idea House, and due to its success, the town was chosen again in 2012.

Senoia Farmers Market

The social event of the week, this is the place to see and be seen. Held every Saturday from March through October, this is not your typical farmers market. Featuring local artisans and fresh-produce vendors, as well as live music and food booths, the atmosphere beckons you to come and stay awhile. Grab a mimosa (or local coffee) and shop to your heart’s delight.

Alive After Five

Main Street Senoia shuts down and turns into a live music venue complete with local food booths, artists and photo ops. Grab a chair and come see what makes this town so special.
