Located in historic Moreland Mill, Moreland Hometown Heritage Museum features memorabilia and personal items of two of the South’s most renowned writers: Erskine Caldwell and Lewis Grizzard. Caldwell was born in Moreland and became one of America’s most widely read and critically acclaimed writers with a literary output of more than 60 titles. Two of his most popular books, God’s Little Acre and Tobacco Road, were turned into movies by Hollywood. Grizzard, who spent his childhood in Moreland, eventually became almost inseparable from Moreland in his life and his stories. He is one of the most popular and best-known Southern humorists. The museum houses Grizzard’s personal effects from his youth, as well as professional memorabilia, such as his typewriter.

Affectionately referred to as the “pearl of the community,” it contains an elegant lobby, a diverse art gallery, lecture halls and star-quality dressing rooms, all anchored by a 1,000-seat, state-of-the-art theater. Construction was funded by a SPLOST grant, along with an investment by the Coweta County School System. The Centre is available for use by all the citizens of the surrounding communities, with special priority being given to school system events.

Located just a few blocks north of downtown Newnan, it is the final resting place for some of the county’s most prominent citizens, including two Georgia governors and several congressmen. In addition to serving as the burial ground for 270 Confederate soldiers (representing every state in the confederacy), Oak Hill is also the final resting place for soldiers from the Revolutionary War (James Akens and William Smith), as well as soldiers from World War I, World War II, Vietnam and Korea. Self-guided tour brochures are available.
